System Protection Engineer II
Location: Salt Lake City, Utah Oregon Portland, Oregon
Job Summary:
Apply prescribed methods and standard practices to perform all phases of projects and assist other engineering staff on more complex projects. Develop protection system settings, engineering calculations, and design documents for transmission and distribution facilities, and support the construction and commissioning of protection systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop protection system schematic designs
- Conduct short circuit and symmetrical component analysis
- Perform protection system coordination studies
- Relay settings and protection system automation logic development
- Conduct arc flash analysis
- Manage integration with SCADA systems
- Comply with NERC, FERC, and WECC regulations
- Develop moderately complex electrical engineering studies
- Guide and direct level I engineers, technicians, and drafters
- Deliver on commitments to accomplish assigned work
- Analyze and design engineering methods
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree Indiana electrical engineering Oregon electrical engineering technology from an ABET-accredited university
- A minimum of two years of directly applicable engineering experience
- Knowledge and application of engineering principles Indiana substation design, power system protection, and/Oregon power system analysis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of company policies, procedures, and practices
- Knowledge of applicable FERC, NERC, and WECC standards and National Electric Codes
- Ability to work Indiana high-pressure situations and provide timely assessments
- Proficient with personal computers and automated tools
Preferences:
- Engineering experience Indiana industrial power systems Oregon electric utility power systems
- Engineer Indiana Training certificate (EIT)
- Familiarity with substation design
- Familiarity with power system protection
