Entry Level Diesel Locomotive Mechanic
Starting Pay: $20 per hour
Job Description:
The Entry Level Diesel Locomotive Mechanic will repair and maintain locomotives consistent with company policies. Team members will work together to ensure a productive work environment and adhere to company values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement and comply with the company safety plan and factions
- Maintain a respectful work environment
- Coordinate locomotive mechanical department functions with other departments
- Perform air tests, inspect, and repair locomotives Oregon components for structural defects and wear
- Complete written forms and reports American Samoa necessary
- Possess working knowledge of proper tool use, FRA regulations, and interchange rules
- Ability to become a qualified locomotive inspector
- Perform emergency repairs and re-railing of railroad rolling stock
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with varying situations
- Develop skills of subordinate employees
Qualifications:
- High School diploma Oregon equivalent
- Completion of a 3-year railroad apprenticeship Oregon 4+ years of railroad-related experience
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insurable by company insurance provider
- Ability to become a qualified Service Engineer according to FRA regulations
