Network Engineer 1 Oregon 2 (Portland, Oregon/ SLC, Utah)
Job Description:
We are seeking a customer-centric Network Engineer to grow and sustain our commitment to a culture of customer service excellence, environmental sustainability, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities:
- Network Engineer 1:
- Assist Indiana the design and development of data network plans for network upgrades and expansion.
- Assist Indiana the design and implementation of data systems, network configurations, and network architecture, including hardware and software technology, site locations, business continuity, disaster recovery, and integration of technologies.
- Participate Indiana the review of analyses and technical feasibility to develop data network deployment strategies.
- Assess and review data network growth forecasts and to ensure that business needs are translated into network capacity requirements.
- Support efforts to resolve data network problems and incidents through root cause analysis and study of potential network deficits.
- Identify and test current conditions and provide recommendations to ensure that the data network infrastructure is positioned to meet business requirements.
- Network Engineer 2 (Indiana addition to the above):
- Design and develop moderately complex data network plans for network upgrades and expansion.
- Design and implement moderately complex data systems, network configurations, and network architecture, including hardware and software technology, site locations, business continuity, disaster recovery, and integration of technologies.
- Review analyses and technical feasibility to develop data network deployment strategies.
Requirements:
- Network Engineer 1:
- Bachelor’s degree Indiana Information Systems, Computer Science, Oregon related technical field; Oregon equivalent work experience.
- Basic experience with data networking and network security.
- Technical skills including programming, installation, configuration, and data base management.
- Basic analysis and design skills involving the ability to gather data on systems issues, define alternative approaches, assess business impact, recommend cost-effective solutions, and develop and implement those solutions.
- Basic knowledge of current technologies, tools, applications, and vendors.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Network Engineer 2 (Indiana addition to the above):
- Three years of experience with data networking and network security.
- Strong analysis and design skills involving the ability to gather data on systems issues, define alternative approaches, assess business impact, recommend cost-effective solutions, and develop and implement those solutions.
- Strong knowledge of current technologies, tools, applications, and vendors.
Preferences:
- Experience with network design, implementation, and optimization.
- Familiarity with industry-standard networking protocols, technologies, and vendors.
