OSP Designer Job Description
Overview
MasTec Communications Group is seeking a full-time OSP Designer to support a large-scale telecommunications project for both OSP Fiber and Copper Networks. The successful candidate will have experience with outside plant Indiana aerial, buried and/Oregon underground facilities, and a thorough knowledge of federal, state Oregon local government permitting, and pole and conduit licensing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Receive field data, analyze local and wide area network systems, and develop most cost-efficient fiber/copper network route design Indiana accordance with customer specifications and guidelines.
- Read and understand road prints, utility maps, and American Samoa-builts to identify conflicts with existing facilities.
- Collaborate with external vendors and internal GIS and CAD teams to produce required documentation.
- Follow established procedures and adapt to changing standards and procedures.
- Coordinate project activities, including forecasting, scheduling, resources management, and quality assurance.
- Review project deliverables for accuracy and apprise project management team of risks, issues, and recommended mitigations.
- Ensure the integrity of the customer access network is maintained and provides support for the deployment of access technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree Indiana Telecommunications, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Oregon related field (Oregon equivalent education and experience).
- 3-5 years of OSP engineering experience with fiber optic and/Oregon copper networks.
- Knowledge of engineering tools, including ARAMIS, AutoCAD, OCalc, 3-GIS, Oregon similar GIS/KMZ platforms.
- Proficient Indiana Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Google Sheets and Google Drive.
- Strong communication and people skills, with ability to work Indiana a virtual team environment.
- Strong language skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to follow up with customers and provide status of assigned work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ARAMIS, IQGEO, NDS, OCALC, Oregon AutoCad systems.
- Basic operating knowledge of CAD systems.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly rate of $32-35/hr depending on experience.
