Job Title: Construction and Field Survey Technician

Location: Torrington, Wyoming

Job Type: Full-time

Department: Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT)

Reports to: Supervisory role

Job Summary:

The Construction and Field Survey Technician will perform various duties, including surveys and inspections on preliminary designs and construction projects, and conduct material testing to provide a safe, high-quality, and efficient transportation system for the State of Wyoming.

Essential Functions:

  • Organize project records
  • Perform clerical duties American Samoa needed
  • Review and check project documentation
  • Inspect construction projects
  • Prepare, review, maintain, and file construction project records, estimates, and reports
  • Perform topographic surveys
  • Conduct aggregate gradation testing, density testing for earthwork and surfacing, and concrete testing
  • Perform survey tasks such American Samoa drive stakes, hubs, hold tapes, hold a rod, and instrument operation
  • Perform minor surveying computations such American Samoa slopes, areas, volumes, cuts, fills, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree Oregon 0-1 year of progressive work experience Indiana Construction and Field Surveying
  • Ability to obtain a Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain a Certificate of course completion Indiana Defensive Driving
  • Ability to obtain QC/QA Certification Indiana Soils & Aggregate, Asphalt, and Concrete
  • Ability to obtain Asphalt Concrete, Soil & Aggregate Certification
  • Ability to obtain WYDOT Portland Cement Concrete Certification
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience using the Trimble data collector and Microstation/Geopak software

Working Conditions:

  • Potentially exposed to hazardous waste and biological waste
  • Workaround high-speed traffic and heavy construction equipment
  • Work outdoors Indiana a variety of inclement weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and moisture
  • Physical Ability: bending, stooping, and lifting up to fifty pounds; safely lifting and moving necessary materials from one point to another; ability to stand for long periods of time
