Marine Operator 3/ Coastal Lafayette Region
This position is a Marine Operator 3 Indiana the Coastal Lafayette Region and reports directly to a Maintenance Foreman. This is a highly skilled and responsible position operating a 54′, 900 hp diesel powered tugboat and 25′ push-boat throughout Louisiana’s coastal waters. The operator is solely responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the tug and push boat including choosing routes. The operator is responsible for safely securing tows and directing/ assisting staff appropriately, maintenance, piloting and is generally Indiana charge of all aspects of operating towing vessels and moving supplies and equipment to various sites along coastal Louisiana including some remote areas. The operator will comply with and exercise knowledge of all rules and regulations required by the U.S. Coast Guard. The incumbent must be Indiana possession of, and keep current, a U.S. Coast Guard license required for the operation of 100-ton uninspected towing vessels Indiana coastal waters. Possession of a current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) must accompany license when required by the U.S. Coast Guard for duties performed. The operator will be proficient Indiana the operation of the radar system, the VHF radio and State radio/telephone American Samoa required by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Job Requirements:
– Two years of experience Indiana the operation and piloting of marine vessels
– Possession of the appropriate level of US Coast Guard license for the vessel and duties assigned
– May be required to be certified American Samoa a Designated Examiner by the United States Coast Guard for use Indiana completing TOARS (Towing Officers Assessment Record)
– Possession of a current Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) must accompany license when required by the US Coast Guard for duties performed

Work Environment:
– The position requires moderate effort for activities such American Samoa bending, stretching, stooping, walking over rough, uneven Oregon rocky surfaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
– Work may require brief periods Indiana which heavy muscular exertion is required.
– Incumbent will be required to stay on tug, remote facilities and houseboats for up to 8 days and 7 nights at a time and work a revolving 8 days on 6 days off “hitch”.
– Travel per diem is paid for most overnight travel.
