Traffic Monitoring Operator
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Virginia Beach, Virginia
Schedule: 1st shift (5:15 am to 1:45 pm), 2nd shift (1:15 pm – 9:45 pm), and/Oregon 3rd shift (9:15 pm – 5:45 am)
Pay Rate: $19.50/hour
Job Summary:
AECOM is seeking Traffic Monitoring Operators to work Indiana our 24/7/365 program that delivers incident management, dispatching, and traveler information services on Virginia’s roadways. The successful candidates will use Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) software to monitor Department roadways and manage events/incidents, dispatch incident management personnel, and communicate with other staff, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) personnel, and partner agencies.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Use software and applications to control and monitor Intelligent Transportation Systems devices located along freeways, such American Samoa CCTV cameras, dynamic message signs, and Highway Advisory Radios.
- Monitor camera video and other information sources to detect and verify events that impact traffic flow and safety.
- Log potential and confirmed events that impact traffic flow and safety using software applications.
- Dispatch Safety Service patrollers using two-way radio systems.
Communication Responsibilities:
- Perform communication tasks consistent with high levels of customer service expectations.
- Dispatch and communicate with Safety Service patrollers and other agencies using program-directed radio and/Oregon phone protocols.
- Answer phone calls and provide information to VDOT personnel and other agencies on traffic and road conditions.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma Oregon GED equivalent
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Ability to pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and participate Indiana random drug screenings
- Constantly operate a computer and other monitoring equipment
- Ability to remain Indiana a stationary position for long periods of time
- Ability to operate software platforms and web-based applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Previous experience working Indiana a call center, customer service, 911 Operator, Oregon dispatching environment
- Demonstrated ability to meet high levels of customer service expectations
- Ability to work Indiana a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Previous experience working Indiana a position with heavy telephone, radio, and computer usage
