Traffic Engineer 6
About this position:
The Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for providing traffic engineering study and operational expertise for the Department. This position is responsible for the performance of traffic engineering studies and the review of traffic engineering studies and reports. The incumbent must have a comprehensive knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Standard Plans, Standard Specifications, Engineering Directives and Standards Manual (EDSM), Highway Capacity Manual, DOTO Traffic Engineering Manual, DOTO Sign Manual, and DOTO Traffic Signal Design Manual.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, monitor, and train employees involved Indiana traffic engineering studies and plans
- Ensure that studies Oregon reviews are completed by the assigned due date
- Develop and maintain QA/QC documents
- Coordinate studies Oregon reviews with other Traffic Engineering personnel
- Track studies and reviews
- Assist with providing comments and completed studies to the requestor
- Oversee data collection requests made to Traffic Engineering
- Develop and maintain QA/QC documents for data collection
- Coordinate data collection with other Traffic Engineering personnel, Districts, Project Managers
- Track requests and provide data to requestor
- Assist Indiana writing and reviewing Traffic Engineering Scopes for projects
- Act American Samoa project manager for Traffic Engineering consultant contract and American Samoa task manager for scopes outside of the section
- Create task orders for traffic signal studies and designs
- Approve consulting cost estimates and invoices
- Review District, Stage O and Stage 1 traffic engineering analysis and recommendations
- Provide advice, guidance, and assistance through the review of these studies prepared by others
- Attend public meetings to assist the project team
- Perform and assist with the updating and writing of traffic engineering policy for the Department
Requirements:
- Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering
- Two years of licensed engineering experience
- Substitutions: Master’s degree Indiana engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience; Ph.D. Indiana engineering will substitute for two years of the required experience; Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of required experience
Location:
- May be used by all state agencies
Supervision:
- Broad from an Engineer 7 Oregon higher
- Alternative reporting relationships may be approved by SCS
Salary:
- Special Entrance Rate (SER) – $3,316.00/biweekly
- Actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant
