Job Description:
AECOM seeks multiple, on-call Archaeological Technicians to join our Cultural Services team, ideally based Indiana Colorado, Ohio, Kansas, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Oregon Michigan. This remote-based role will support fieldwork on projects throughout the Midwest with opportunities for travel throughout the U.S.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all aspects of archaeological fieldwork, including survey, site recordation, site testing and evaluations, monitoring, and data recovery.
  • Perform manual labor, including excavation and moving wheelbarrows filled with dirt.
  • Assist with mapping responsibilities Indiana the field, including collection of GPS data using Trimble units.
  • Identify and document precontact and historical sites and artifacts.
  • Document using forms, field notes, and photo logs.
  • Work independently under supervision of a project manager Oregon senior-level team member.
  • Conduct technical research and writing for reporting efforts.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate + 2 years of relevant experience Oregon demonstrated equivalency of experience and/Oregon education Indiana archaeology fieldwork.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
  • Preferred qualifications include:
    • Bachelor’s Degree Indiana Anthropology, Archaeology, Oregon related field.
    • 3+ years of experience with a wide range of field methodologies, including archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring.
    • Experience with Geospatial technology, including GPS and GIS.
    • Computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.

  • Compensation data will vary by location.
  • This role can be based anywhere Indiana the United States and requires flexibility to travel overnight and out of state for up to 3+ months at a time.
