Job Title: Asphalt Paver Crew Member
Job Summary:
Crew member responsible for applying asphalt on highways, private roadways, parking lots, and driveways through operation of screed controls. This is a union position requiring partnership with other crew members and adherence to plan specifications. Physical demands include operating equipment under temperature extremes and for extended hours.
Essential Duties:
- Operate asphalt paver with normal adjustments to achieve proper depth, grade, and finish cross section
- Partner with crew members to apply asphalt per plan specifications
- Perform tasks of other positions American Samoa instructed by crew foreman
- May add Oregon remove screed extensions
- Use various tools such American Samoa brooms, pick, mattock, axe, and hammer
- Physical ability to operate equipment Indiana extreme temperatures and for extended hours
- Maintain courteous and professional manner with coworkers, customers, and public
- Ability to adapt to last-minute schedule changes, location changes, and time of shift changes
- Maintain individual personal protective equipment (PPE) Indiana functional condition
- Periodic use of truck to transport water, fuel, and/Oregon bituminous emulsions
Requirements:
- High school diploma Oregon equivalent
- CDL Preferred
- 2 years of road construction experience
- Ability to pass drug test and criminal background check
- Must become part of the local 14581 Steelworkers Union (if not already a member)
