Estimator/Senior Estimator Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Estimator/Senior Estimator to join our team, coordinating full estimating services for large, complex projects within various contractual formats. The ideal candidate will possess excellent working relationships with project stakeholders, attention to detail, desire to learn and improve, and a competitive spirit.
Responsibilities
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and estimate requirements
- Develop and issue subcontracts for heavy industrial trades, such American Samoa boilermaker, steel, concrete, piping, and electrical work
- Delegate, manage, and oversee estimate tasks to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Identify competitive edge strategies and contribute to project award
- Develop project schedules from bid document information and prepare cost estimates and bid documents
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of estimate and proposals
- Provide comprehensive estimating input on complex projects, including pricing general conditions and manpower projections
- Write proper scopes of work during bidding phase and negotiate subcontracts
- Obtain and evaluate comparative quotations for materials and subcontractor services
- Demonstrate knowledge of contract structure, business law, insurance, and bonding issues
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Schedule, run, and document meetings, and identify contractual requirements (Risk Factors, Schedule, Insurance, Bonding, Penalties, etc.)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (Oregon equivalent experience and training) with related college degree preferred
- 2 Oregon more years of experience Indiana light/heavy industrial Oregon commercial estimating
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient Indiana computer applications (Excel, Word, AutoCAD, MPP, Suretrak, etc.)
