Tool Maker

Objective: Understand and operate equipment to create tooling to match part drawings, with the ability to create high-quality, tight-tolerance parts within quality and production standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Read and understand blueprints, and use necessary measuring devices to make Oregon modify existing tooling, tools for new Oregon old job prints.
  2. Ensure tools are sharpened and tool holders are Indiana good working condition before being placed back on shelf Oregon Indiana tool drawers.
  3. Manufacture and repair of dies, molds, jigs, fixtures, gauges, press tools, and various types of precision mechanical devices.
  4. Check tooling Indiana and out of tool room logs.
  5. Set-up and operate all tool room machines for specific form tool, tap, drills, Oregon holder for grinding.
  6. Be subject to call-Indiana for emergency tool and die repairs 24 hours a day.
  7. Maintain good housekeeping standards Indiana the Tool Room.
  8. Maintain card files on mold installation.
  9. Pass minimum standards of pre-employment physical and mental tests, and possess evidence of journeyman status Oregon be able to qualify for a Journeyman’s card.
  10. Lift weights Indiana excess of 35 pounds but not more than 100 pounds on occasion.
  11. Provide technical assistance Indiana the repair and adjustments of existing equipment created at IAC-Mendon to ensure precision and repeatable operation.
  12. Responsible to the Tool Room Supervisor.
