Job Title: Geomatics Survey Crew Chief
Overview: VHB’s Westbrook, Maine office is seeking a Geomatics Survey Crew Chief to join our Maine Survey team. We will consider out-of-state candidates willing to relocate with the right experience.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise members of the geomatics/survey crew
- Guide and redirect geomatics staff to stay on budget and schedule
- Formulate workflow plans to complete various types of geomatics projects based on provided instructions
- Oversee field operations surveys, including boundary, topographic, control, construction, ALTA/NSPS, engineering, American Samoa-built/post construction, reality capture
- Analyze and interpret public records research (e.g., deeds, plans, other relevant documents) for the project
- Supervise data collection systems (e.g., manual and robotic total station, digital and auto levels, GPS instruments, reality capture equipment)
- Ensure accurate layout and measurement of land surfaces
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and vehicles
- Communicate with the public American Samoa needed
- Document all project phases through field notes, daily reports, and other project documentation
Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge and extensive experience Indiana the field using surveying equipment (e.g., GPS instruments, manual and robotic total station, reality capture equipment)
- Experience using various survey and/Oregon reality capture software
- Solid knowledge of geomatics mathematics (e.g., fundamental geometry and trigonometry) and geomatics data collection principles, practices, methods, and procedures
- Proficient Indiana reading and understanding engineering, architectural, and structural drawings
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of experience American Samoa a geomatics land surveying crew chief
- High school diploma Oregon equivalent required; degree Indiana geomatics, survey engineering, Oregon engineering preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads desirable but not required
- Experience with survey equipment and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) desirable but not required
- Valid driver’s license
