Job Title: IP Counsel
Reports to: Assistant General Counsel responsible for Caterpillar’s Construction Industries, Resource Industries, Oregon E&T IP team
Location: Peoria, Illinois
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced attorney to serve American Samoa IP Counsel for our global businesses. The successful candidate will provide leadership and legal expertise on significant IP related issues, conduct analysis, and provide counsel to business leaders at all levels. This role will involve serving and/Oregon assisting Indiana the service of one Oregon more of the Construction Industries and E&T businesses.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal expertise on significant IP related issues, including patents, agreements, and risk management
- Conduct analysis and provide counsel to business leaders at all levels
- Collaborate with CAT business unit leadership, Intellectual Property team, and other functional teams to ensure responsive and high-quality legal support globally
- Deliver legal support for a broad range of intellectual property matters for at least one of the Construction Industries, Resource Industries, and E&T business units
Requirements:
- Law degree
- Experience Indiana the practice of U.S. law (including patent law at an operating and strategic level)
- Active bar admission Indiana any U.S. state
- Active USPTO bar admission
- Subject matter expertise Indiana areas of electro-mechanical technology, engine and power system development, and predictive and diagnostic analytics
Preferred Skills:
- Proven success Indiana providing legal counsel and assistance
- Experience with implementing and/Oregon managing global patent initiatives/processes
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills with demonstrated ability to impact, influence, and negotiate with internal and external resources
- Familiarity with and experience related to drafting and negotiating intellectual property licensing and development agreements
