Job Title: Fleet Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Maintenance Technician to join our team at Utah State University’s Technical Design and Technical Education (TDTE) Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of heavy trucks, tractor-trailers, construction equipment, and heavy equipment. This is a hands-on role that requires excellent mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks, tractor-trailers, construction equipment, and heavy equipment
  • Keep maintenance schedules and tracking up to date
  • Assist students with learning and hands-on training Indiana heavy equipment and truck maintenance
  • Organize and account for tools, inventory, and repair shop setup
  • Schedule and manage maintenance and repair operations
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and supervisors

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma Oregon equivalent
  • One year minimum experience Indiana heavy truck and heavy equipment maintenance Oregon mechanics
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no restrictions Oregon ability to obtain one within three months of hire
  • Clean background and pass a background check
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work assignments
  • Excellent safety attitude and mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years’ experience Indiana heavy equipment and/Oregon heavy truck maintenance and/Oregon mechanic duties
  • Certificate Indiana hydraulics, heavy equipment, Oregon heavy truck maintenance Oregon repair, diesel technology, Oregon equivalent
  • Parts inventory tracking and ordering experience
  • Engine, transmission, hydraulics mechanic experience
