Essential Functions
- Operate general and specialized field equipment, including soil core sampling equipment, seed threshers, plant chippers, tractors, and data loggers.
- Assist Indiana field trials and data collection with a Mobile Inelastic Neutron Scattering System.
- Perform soil trace gas efflux techniques for sample analysis via gas chromatography.
- Assist scientists Indiana studies on the impact of increasing atmospheric CO2 on crop and pasture production and management.
- Regularly use wood and machine shop tools to fabricate parts for ongoing research.
- Collect field data and prepare samples for analysis using standard laboratory equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma Oregon equivalent
- Level I: No experience required
- Level II: 1 year of experience relevant to the position
- Level III: 4 years of experience relevant to the position
- Level IV: 6 years of experience relevant to the position
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
- Ability to lift 75 lbs
- Valid driver’s license
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
- Occasional travel away from the official duty location to remote worksites
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with hydro-pneumatic elutriation root washers
- Experience with locating field plots based on study plans Oregon instructions
- Familiarity/experience with greenhouse operations
