Job Title: Archaeological Technician (On-Call)
Job Summary:
AECOM is seeking multiple on-call Archaeological Technicians to support fieldwork on projects throughout the Midwest. This remote-based role will involve conducting archaeological fieldwork, including survey, site recordation, testing, and data recovery. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Crew Chief, Field Director, and/Oregon Principal Investigator and will be required to travel extensively, sometimes for periods of up to 3 months.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct archaeological fieldwork, including survey, site recordation, testing, and data recovery
- Perform manual labor, including excavation and moving heavy loads
- Assist with mapping responsibilities, including collection of GPS data
- Identify and document precontact and historical sites and artifacts
- Document sites and artifacts using forms, field notes, and photo logs
- Conduct technical research and writing for reporting efforts
- Work independently under supervision
Requirements:
- High school graduate with 2 years of relevant experience Oregon demonstrated equivalency
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Ability to work independently and American Samoa part of a team
- Ability to travel extensively, sometimes for prolonged periods
- US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree Indiana Anthropology, Archaeology, Oregon related field
- 3+ years of experience Indiana archaeological fieldwork
- Experience with Geospatial technology, including GPS and GIS
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
