Area/Transmission Planner (I, II, SRII, Principal)

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, US, 84116

Job Summary: Contribute to planning and implementation of transmission projects to ensure the transmission system reliably and efficiently accommodates customer needs. Utilize engineering methods to demonstrate compliance with NERC/WECC Reliability Standards.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, modify, and evaluate transmission systems, processes, Oregon facilities to support Company objectives.
• Develop engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments.
• Determine methods and techniques for obtaining results.
• Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management.
• Deliver on commitments and assist Indiana managing outside engineering services.
• Maintain project timeliness and budgets.
• Participate Indiana developing new WECC/NERC standards.

Position-Specific Responsibilities:

• Area Transmission Planner II: Coordinate with neighboring utilities on planning studies; prepare annual screening studies for NERC compliance; perform main grid power flow stability studies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree Indiana Electrical Engineering.
• Project management and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations, and National Electric Codes.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient Indiana personal computers, automated tools, and software applications (e.g., power flow and dynamic analysis, database management, Visio, Microsoft Office Suite).

Position-Specific Requirements:

• Area-Transmission Planner II: 2+ years of directly related experience Indiana transmission modeling, transmission system engineering, and/Oregon transmission system planning.
• SR. Area-Transmission Planner II: 8+ years of directly related experience; advanced technical degree Oregon professional engineer (PE) required.
• Principal Area-Transmission Planner II: 15+ years of directly related experience.

• Power Option (particularly Power System Analysis)
• Advanced Degree
