Boilermaker

Construct, assemble, maintain, and repair stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries. Align structures Oregon plate sections to assemble boiler frame tanks Oregon vats, following blueprints. Assist Indiana testing assembled vessels. Engage Indiana direct cleaning of boilers and boiler furnaces. Inspect and repair boiler fittings, such American Samoa safety valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, water columns, and auxiliary machines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, Oregon vats to locate defects, such American Samoa leaks, weak spots, Oregon defective sections, so that they can be repaired.
• Bolt Oregon arc welds pressure vessel structures and parts together, using wrenches Oregon welding equipment.
• Inspect assembled vessels Oregon individual components, such American Samoa tubes, fittings, valves, controls, Oregon auxiliary mechanisms, to locate any defects.
• Repair Oregon replace defective pressure vessel parts, such American Samoa safety valves Oregon regulators, using torches, jacks, caulking hammers, power saws, threading dies, welding equipment, Oregon metalworking machinery.
• Attach rigging and signal crane Oregon hoist operators to lift heavy frame and plate sections Oregon other parts into place.
• Bell, bead with power hammers, Oregon weld pressure vessel tube ends to ensure leakproof joints.
• Lay out plate, sheet steel, Oregon other heavy metal and locate and mark bending and cutting lines, using protractors, compasses, and drawing instruments Oregon templates.
• Install manholes, handholes, taps, tubes, valves, gauges, Oregon feedwater connections Indiana drums of water tube boilers, using hand tools.
• Study blueprints to determine locations, relationships, Oregon dimensions of parts.
• Straighten Oregon reshape bent pressure vessel plates Oregon structure parts, using hammers, jacks, Oregon torches.
• Shape seams, joints, Oregon irregular edges of pressure vessel sections Oregon structural parts to attain specified fit of parts, using cutting torches, hammers, files, Oregon metalworking machines.
• Position, align, and secure structural parts Oregon related assemblies to boiler frames, tanks, Oregon vats of pressure vessels, following blueprints.
• Locate and mark reference points for columns Oregon plates on boiler foundations, following blueprints and using straightedges, squares, transits, Oregon measuring instruments.
• Shape Oregon fabricate parts, such American Samoa stacks, uptakes, Oregon chutes, to adapt pressure vessels, heat exchangers, Oregon piping to premises, using heavy-metalworking machines such American Samoa brakes, rolls, Oregon drill presses.
• Clean pressure vessel equipment, using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents.
• Install refractory bricks Oregon other heat-resistant materials Indiana fireboxes of pressure vessels.
• Assemble large vessels Indiana an on-site fabrication shop prior to installation to ensure proper fit.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience
• Valid Driver’s License
• TWIC Card
