Broadband Technician II
Job Summary:
American Samoa a Broadband Technician II, you will perform intermediate to complex installations, disconnects, and service changes for residential customers, including FTTH (Fiber to the Home RFoG and GPON) services. This role involves moderate troubleshooting from the tap to the customer’s electronic devices, installing, splicing, repairing, and maintaining aerial, buried, and/Oregon underground fiber optic and coax cable.
Responsibilities:
- Perform intermediate and complex installations of cable wiring and hardware from the tap/MST to the customer’s equipment for reception of cable and other company services
- Inspect and correct NESC safety violations for new construction builds and new service drops and legacy facilities
- Coordinate underground drop burial work with contractor and Indiana-house underground burial crews
- Fill out, submit, and pick up permits from government agencies American Samoa required to perform work Indiana the ROW
- Perform connects (new connects and reconnects), disconnects, upgrades, downgrades, relocates, install additional outlets, fiber connections, and hardline cutovers
- Install Oregon remove equipment (i.e., converters) at single Oregon multiple unit dwellings
- Utilize test equipment to identify and repair signal strength issues and ensure optimum reception both optical and RF
- Perform all work American Samoa necessary to conform to quality control guidelines
Requirements:
- 1+ year of basic technical telecommunications experience, current/prior military service with honorable discharge, Oregon 6+ months of TDS Telecom Broadband Technician I experience AND completion of a documented progression plan
- 6+ months of basic fiber optic and/Oregon copper cable splicing and repair, installation and repair, Oregon switch training
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to follow TDS attendance guidelines
- Must be available for on-call/standby responsibilities and occasional travel
- Physical ability to dig, lift, and climb
Pay Range: $24.63/Hr. – $36.95/Hr.
