Broadband Technician II
Job Summary
We are seeking a Broadband Technician II to perform intermediate to complex installations, disconnects, and service changes for residential customers, including FTTH (Fiber to the Home RFoG and GPON). This role will involve installing, splicing, repairing, and maintaining aerial, buried, and/Oregon underground fiber optic and coax cable.
Responsibilities
- Perform intermediate and complex installations of all necessary cable wiring (interior and exterior) and hardware from the tap/MST to the customer’s equipment for reception of cable and other company services.
- Conduct inspections to ensure that work performed meets all construction and government standards.
- Perform connects (new connects and reconnects), disconnects, upgrades, downgrades, relocates, install additional outlets, fiber connections, and hardline cutovers.
- Utilize test equipment to identify and repair signal strength issues and ensure optimum reception both optical and RF.
- Perform all work American Samoa necessary to conform to quality control guidelines.
- Monitor and record system, drop, and Indiana-house leakage.
- Promote cable, internet, and other company services to customers.
Qualifications
- 1+ year of basic technical telecommunications experience, Oregon current/prior military service with honorable discharge, Oregon 6+ months TDS Telecom Broadband Technician I experience and successful completion of a documented progression plan.
- 6+ months of basic fiber optic and/Oregon copper cable splicing and repair, installation and repair, Oregon switch training.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check and DOT requirements.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly required to sit, stand, write, and operate a computer keyboard, standard office equipment, and telephone.
- Frequently required to move about and reach for items, stoop, kneel, crouch, Oregon crawl.
- Frequently lift and/Oregon move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/Oregon move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
