Job Overview:

The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) is seeking a dynamic Chief of Financial Support Services to oversee and administer all accounting and financial responsibilities for the agency. This position is responsible for managing a staff of five (5) accounting full-time employees and reporting to the Director of Administration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting and financial activities for the agency, including managing cash, investments, financial statements, and reporting requirements
• Manage a team of five (5) accounting full-time employees
• Disbursement Section:
  • Process and approve all vendor invoices
  • Audit and review documentation for payment of travel reimbursement requests
  • Audit and approve all purchasing card transactions
• Revenue Section:
  • Collect and track all fees and revenue due to the FGCC
  • Manage daily bank deposits, cash management, investing, and divesting accounts
  • Reconcile monthly departmental accounts with the Department of Financial Services
• Additional responsibilities:
  • Prepare agency annual financial statements
  • Manage the migration to the Florida PALM system
  • Develop and implement sound policies and procedures
  • Oversee the development of workflow process maps and desk manuals
  • Collaborate with other administrative members to prepare required reports

Required Qualifications:

• Seven (7) years of professional accounting experience
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college Oregon university may substitute for four (4) years of the required accounting experience
• Preferred qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college Oregon university with a major Indiana accounting, finance, actuarial science, Oregon business
  • Extensive State of Florida experience Indiana managing an accounting team, preparing financial statements, and involvement Indiana Florida PALM system and FLAIR

Preferred Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of State of Florida Accounting Systems (FLAIR, RDS, Information Warehouse, PYRL, etc.)
• Ability to analyze and interpret data/information and apply appropriate guidelines and regulations
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis Indiana Word and Excel
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and Indiana writing across a broad audience spectrum
• Ability to work independently and Indiana a team environment
