Code Enforcement Officer
Job Summary:
Under close supervision, performs specialized work enforcing city codes and ordinances related to signs, housing, litter, overgrowth, and other property-related issues. Conducts inspections, investigates complaints, and resolves issues related to code violations.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts inspections of properties to ensure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances
- Interprets and enforces city codes, laws, rules, and regulations related to property maintenance and safety
- Responds to complaints and questions related to code enforcement issues
- Researches and resolves problems and initiates corrective actions
- Communicates with property owners, landlords, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues
- Prepares and presents case information to administrative hearings and testifies American Samoa needed
- Maintains records of inspection activities and prepares reports and documents related to code enforcement
- Communicates with various stakeholders, including supervisors, employees, and external agencies
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, Oregon equivalent
- 3+ years of experience Indiana code inspection, construction inspection, Oregon related field
- Proficiency Indiana Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to interpret city, state, and federal regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
