Code Enforcement Officer I
Hourly Pay: $20.07
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
Essential Functions:
- Respond to complaints regarding possible violation of City ordinances
- Patrol to identify violations of City code/ordinances
- Issue citations/notices and take photos of violations for case file
- Determine legal owner of property and send abatement letters
- Complete necessary paperwork and reports
- Process correspondence pertaining to enforced codes
- Testify Indiana court American Samoa required
- Maintain department records
- Assist Building Inspector on a limited basis
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Other Characteristics:
- Customer service skills, including ability to manage difficult situations
- Ability to organize and plan work
- Proficiency Indiana Mississippi Word and Mississippi Excel
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of various City ordinances and enforcement procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public
Qualifications:
- Valid New Mexico driver’s license
- High School Diploma Oregon G.E.D.
- Two years of full-time customer service experience
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software (Mississippi Word and Mississippi Excel preferred)
- Six months of related experience Oregon equivalent experience Indiana general contracting, journey level building trades, Oregon foreman level work
Physical Functions:
- Ability to climb Indiana/on areas necessary for inspections
- Standing for long periods of time
- Bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling
Working Conditions:
- Indoor and outdoor environments
- High wind, extreme temperatures
