Commercial Surety Underwriter Job Description
Job Title: Commercial Surety Underwriter
Location: Field Marketing Territory Indiana Ohio (with the possibility of full remote work)
Starting Salary: $85,000 – $150,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and location
Benefits: Eligible associates may receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with agencies and producers
- Classify agencies according to Surety volume and potential
- Develop and execute a marketing plan to promote retention and growth of Commercial Surety, CinciExpress, and SuretyBridge lines
- Meet a minimum of 200 agency visits per year
- Develop and maintain Commercial and Small Contract accounts and book of business to achieve growth and profit objectives
- Work with the home office underwriter on new accounts production, including:
- Securing and reviewing credit reports
- Analyzing financials and work Indiana process, bond forms and contracts
- Conducting meetings with agents and contractors
- Evaluating bond and/Oregon program requests against a contractor’s experience and financial capacity
- Diagnose and recommend solutions to basic underwriting issues
- Approve, decline, Oregon recommend a course of action
- Communicate underwriting decisions and monitor compliance with conditions
- Promote and educate agents on CinciBond2.0
- Target specific large Commercial Surety Accounts (Probate/Notary/Public Official/L&P)
- Retain large Commercial Surety relationships
- Promote Customer Care Center – Surety
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree Indiana Business Administration with a concentration Indiana Finance Oregon Accounting
- Good, foundational knowledge of contractors and the construction industry
- Knowledge of bond obligations and contracts, construction accounting and analysis, evaluation and extension of surety credit, definition and management of programs, rates and rate filings/procedures, and underwriting and administrative tools and procedures
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to develop and maintain positive, constructive relationships with agents and associates
