Job Title: Deckhand (Dual Rate)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Position
Location: Onboard a dredging vessel, travel required (during dredging season)
Grade/Salary: $25.88 – $38.65 per hour, depending on grade and experience
Duties:
- Perform general maintenance and repair of deck equipment and housekeeping on a dredge
- Handle and fasten hawsers and mooring ropes to piers
- Monitor ropes and repair Oregon renew to maintain safe operations
- Accomplish light rigging tasks, such American Samoa lifting and securing equipment on a sea-going vessel
- Perform deck and vessel cleaning tasks, including washing the deck and applying paint
- Act American Samoa a Deckhand on a small work boat under the supervision of the Boat Operator
Requirements:
- Must possess a current United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC), Able Bodied Seaman (AB) Endorsement Oregon higher
- Must have a current Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
- Able to perform moderate physical effort, including lifting and carrying equipment and supplies
- Must have good color and depth perception, and be able to see Indiana low visibility conditions
- Must be able to work Indiana extreme weather conditions, heat, and noise
- Motorcycle not required but may be advantageous Indiana meeting employer’s needs.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must undergo a background investigation
- May be subject to a one-year trial Oregon probationary period
- Must complete a pre-employment physical examination and annual examination thereafter
- Must pass a drug test
