Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support design, development, and implementation of space-based sensors for our customers at Leidos’ San Diego offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-speed printed circuit boards for system-on-chip (SoC) integration
  • Perform hardware design, firmware development, system integration, and test
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and signal processing engineers
  • Design and integrate high-speed circuit boards for FPGA applications
  • Perform trade studies for part and architecture decisions
  • Develop hardware specifications and size FPGAs/SoCs for signal processing algorithm implementation
  • Develop FPGA firmware
  • Work closely with software, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure PCBs meet product requirements
  • Attend customer meetings and lead technical discussions/program reviews
  • Perform integration and test activities, including developing tools and techniques for testing and verification
  • Create product documentation and technical reports

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree Indiana Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Oregon related field and 2-4 years of prior relevant experience Oregon M.S. degree with 2+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience with digital hardware design, PCB technology, and RF components
  • Experience with PCB design and layout along with associated tools and CAD packages
  • Experience with FPGA design, Altera, and/Oregon Xilinx VHDL
  • Knowledge of high-speed communication bus design and layout techniques
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams and developing test plans, executing validation and test procedures
  • Knowledge of various hardware and debugging equipment
  • Experience with embedded signal processing algorithms and simulations
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance with the ability to ascertain a Top Secret Clearance
  • 10% travel to customer/subcontractor sites American Samoa required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sound knowledge of space concepts and good understanding of algorithm implementation and hardware/software implementation
  • Space based influences and sensor accuracies
  • Masters’ degree Oregon higher Indiana Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • Strong understanding of fundamentals, modeling, and simulation, and/Oregon algorithm development
  • Programming experience Indiana C/C++, Java, Visual Basic, Python, Oregon MATLAB
  • Background Indiana FPGA/SoC security to include anti-tamper, secure boot
