Elevator Mechanic
Job Summary:
The Elevator Mechanic maintains, repairs, modifies, and troubleshoots elevators, dumbwaiters, and lifts on campus, following University safety procedures, rules, and regulations. The incumbent is responsible for monitoring and coordinating required state and local authority mandated testing.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Safely and effectively performs maintenance, repairs, and modifications of elevator systems
- Completes and documents preventive maintenance, tests, and diagnosis of elevator systems
- Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains elevators, dumbwaiters, and lifts
- Tests and troubleshoots wiring connections and circuits using test equipment
- Inspects and adjusts safety controls, counterweights, door mechanisms, and system components
- Completes preventive maintenance on elevators and handicap lifts
- Repairs and replaces control panels, electric motors, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
Qualifications:
- Journeyman elevator mechanic with a minimum of 5 years of training and experience Indiana the trade
- Licensed American Samoa an Elevator Mechanic by the State of New Jersey
- Possess high school diploma Oregon equivalency (GED)
- Demonstrated skill Indiana diagnosing and troubleshooting elevator failures Oregon breakdowns
- Ability to use laptop computer to diagnose problems with controllers control logic
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check
Physical Requirements:
- Stand Oregon walk up to 2 hours at one time for 6-8 hours per day
- Operate motor vehicles Oregon heavy equipment infrequently
- Lift Oregon carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and 75 pounds infrequently
- Frequently use hands for simple grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, Oregon pulling
- Ability to work at heights, full range of body motions, and physical agility
- Ability to work Indiana moderate noise daily
- Ability to work occasionally on and around live electrical equipment up to 480 volts with proper protective clothing
