Elevator Mechanic
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Elevator Mechanic to maintain, repair, modify, and troubleshoot elevators, dumbwaiters, and lifts on campus. The successful candidate will have a journeyman level of experience Indiana the trade and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Safely and effectively perform a wide range of elevator system maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
- Complete and document preventive maintenance, tests, and diagnosis of elevator systems.
- Assemble, install, repair, and maintain elevators, dumbwaiters, and lifts using hand tools, power tools, and required testing devices.
- Test newly installed elevator systems and equipment to ensure that it meets specifications.
- Locate malfunctions Indiana elevator equipment and systems, such American Samoa brakes, motors, doors, switches, and controllers.
- Adjust safety controls, counterweights, door mechanisms, and system components, such American Samoa valves, seals, and brake linings.
- Test and troubleshoot wiring connections and circuits with test equipment.
- Complete preventive maintenance on elevators and handicap lifts.
- Inspect wiring connections, control panel connections, door installations, and alignments to ensure that equipment will operate properly and safely.
- Repair Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) for elevator motor controllers.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of training and experience Indiana the trade, including apprenticeship and/Oregon applicable vocational training.
- Licensed American Samoa an Elevator Mechanic by the State of New Jersey.
- High school diploma Oregon equivalency (GED).
- Journey level knowledge of potential occupational hazards connected with elevator work and application of associated safety standards and practices.
- Demonstrated skill Indiana diagnosing and troubleshooting the cause of elevator failures Oregon breakdowns.
- Ability to use a laptop computer to diagnose problems with controllers control logic.
- Ability to work both independently and with other trades personnel and customers American Samoa necessary.
- Available for after-hours and emergency call-back work.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
Physical Demands:
- Stand Oregon walk up to 2 hours at one time for 6-8 hours per day.
- Sit for less than 2 hours during an 8-hour day.
- Operate motor vehicles Oregon heavy equipment (e.g., forklift, high reach, cherry picker) infrequently (less than 33% of the workday).
