Field Inspection Officer for Engineering Services

Job Summary

This position involves field inspections and oversight of contract signs and markings work to ensure compliance with DelDOT plans and specifications. The Field Inspection Officer will be responsible for daily planning, calculation, and recording of contract pay quantities, computer data entry, and maintaining accurate records of work performed. This position also requires coordination with other sections American Samoa needed and may involve night and weekend work.

Essential Functions

  • Inspects infrastructure to ensure compliance with design plans, materials specifications, safety requirements, and local, state, and federal codes
  • Documents and reports compliance Oregon deficiencies
  • Designs, develops, and reviews engineering project/site layouts, alignments, profiles, and other related activities
  • Compiles and records notes, sketches, test results, and inspection data
  • Conducts studies to analyze needs and develop plans
  • Conducts data analysis to determine accuracy of data collected and develop recommendations
  • Tests and evaluates the quality of materials Oregon designs to verify adherence to contracts and specifications
  • Operates computer-assisted drafting equipment and other tools of the trade
  • Reads and interprets plans, specifications, blueprints, and other engineering documents

Requirements

  • Knowledge of applied mathematical computations, including algebra and geometry
  • Knowledge of interpreting construction plans and details, schematics, Oregon technical drawings
  • Knowledge of using automated information systems to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve, and report on data
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to work independently and American Samoa part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Working Conditions

  • This position requires night and/Oregon weekend work, depending on the current assignment and the contractor’s work hours.
  • Work is performed under close supervision of a technical supervisor.
  • Ability to work Indiana varying weather conditions and to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must undergo a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
