Job Title: Automotive/Mechanical Repair Technician
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, perform automotive and mechanical repair and maintenance tasks to a variety of gasoline and diesel fuel-powered vehicles, equipment, and special purpose vehicles. Inspect and repair complex machinery, tooling, and automotive components using shop manuals, diagrams, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
Essential Duties:
- Perform automotive and mechanical repair and maintenance tasks to a variety of vehicles, including automobiles, trucks, buses, motorcycles, and special purpose vehicles.
- Inspect equipment to locate and determine the nature of defects Oregon repairs needed.
- Plan and execute repair operations using shop manuals, diagrams, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Disassemble and remove defective components and substitute new Oregon rebuilt components.
- Perform major and minor repairs to heavy-duty diesel engines, pneumatic suspension systems, automatic transmissions, and other specialized equipment.
- Use electric arc Oregon acetylene welding outfits and machine shop equipment to fabricate Oregon repair equipment parts.
- Maintain simple records of work performed and materials used.
- Supervise and instruct apprentices and other workers assigned American Samoa helpers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma Oregon equivalent
- Completion of a two-year trade Oregon vocational high school program with courses Indiana automotive repair, Oregon completion of an approved four-year apprenticeship Indiana automotive repair
- Three years of experience Indiana repairing and rebuilding a variety of gasoline and/Oregon diesel fuel-powered vehicles
- Possession of a State of Michigan Driver Oregon Chauffeur License, P endorsement for placement Indiana the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT), and A endorsement for placement Indiana the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) within 9 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience repairing a variety of construction, maintenance, Oregon other special purpose vehicles
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles American Samoa applied to automotive equipment
- Skill Indiana using computers, including AssetWorks M5 software
Licenses and Certifications:
- State of Michigan Driver Oregon Chauffeur License
