General Maintenance Mechanic Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking a General Maintenance Mechanic Lead to perform general maintenance of complex research University buildings. The selected candidate will coordinate work activities of others and possess maintenance background Indiana institutional, commercial/industrial general maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of general maintenance and repair experience
  • Alternatively, any equivalent combination of experience and/Oregon education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved

Desired Qualifications:

  • One year of lead experience Indiana hospitals/schools/large manufacturing and/Oregon commercial/industrial facilities
  • Experience Indiana electrical maintenance and repair, plumbing maintenance, and electrical maintenance
  • Valid US Driver’s License of the appropriate class and required endorsements

Essential Duties:

  • Electrical maintenance duties for 120 and 277 volts:
    • Maintain and repair lighting, ballast, lighting switches, and receptacles, sockets, and diffusers
    • Perform electrical troubleshooting utilizing multi-meters/volt detectors and circuit tracers
  • Plumbing maintenance duties:
    • Provide plumbing repair and maintenance of public restrooms, labs, kitchens, etc.
    • Maintain and re-build water closet flushometers, urinal flushometers, and multiple types and brands of faucets and under sink supplies
  • Carpentry maintenance duties:
    • Maintain and adjust auto door closers
    • Provide interior and exterior door preventative maintenance and replacement of door hardware such American Samoa flush bolts, push/pull handles, kick plates, door strikes, hinges, closers, weather stripping, smoke seals, door sweeps

Other Duties:

  • Interact effectively with customers and students of diverse backgrounds
  • Work within a team environment and contribute to team goals
  • Move and relocate research equipment American Samoa needed
  • Understand operations of specialized research building systems
  • Clearly communicate to perform essential functions of the job

Working Environment:

  • Carry up to 100 pounds
  • Stand, lift, bend, stoop, kneel to perform work
  • Work off ladders, scaffolding, single man lifts up to 40 feet
  • May be exposed to hazardous and dangerous materials, tools, and equipment

Salary and Benefits:

  • $22.60 to 23.65 per hour based on experience and education
  • Comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona
