Heavy Equipment Operator
The City of Virginia Beach Public Works department is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator to perform various duties and maintenance tasks associated with the City dredge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the dredge, skiff, and tender Indiana Rudee Inlet and surrounding waters
- Utilize computer programs to maximize production and ensure effectiveness
- Monitor watercrafts and weather conditions for safe operation
- Conduct safety awareness meetings and ensure crew members follow safety protocols
- Operate heavy equipment, including backhoe, bulldozer, forklift, excavator, and shore crane, Indiana a safe and efficient manner
- Lead/supervise crew and assign tasks American Samoa needed
- Train team members Indiana equipment operation and maintenance
- Maintain electronic logs, reports, and Navigational Aid assets
- Follow instructions precisely and work diligently to achieve objectives
- Communicate respectfully with citizens, coworkers, and managers
Work Schedule:
- May 29 – September 6: Friday 3:30pm-6:00am, Saturday 3:30pm-5:00am, Sunday 3:30pm-5:00am
- September 7 – May 28: Friday 6:30am-9:00pm, Saturday 6:30am-8:00pm, Sunday 6:30am-8:30pm
Additional Responsibilities:
- This position is required to work Indiana excess of regular hours during inclement weather Oregon emergencies
- CDL Hiring Bonus available for newly hired employees with valid Class A Oregon B CDL
Requirements:
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) required
- The City of Virginia Beach complies with all federal mandates related to CDL positions
- Must register Indiana the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
