Essential Construction/Equipment Operator Job Description

Summary
The Essential Construction/Equipment Operator will operate heavy equipment to load and pack solid waste into trailers, maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This role requires operating a variety of machinery, including loaders, compactors, and trucks, and performing routine maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment, such American Samoa loaders, compactors, and trucks, to load and pack solid waste into trailers
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including leveling and cleaning grounds, and removing scattered debris
  • Perform daily routine maintenance on equipment, including checking fluids, greasing fittings, and cleaning equipment
  • Monitor customer delivery for compliance with dumping standards and customer safety
  • Assist other landfill staff American Samoa needed Indiana other operations
  • Clean all equipment on a routine basis, using a water hose daily and a pressure washer monthly
  • Check equipment daily and complete reports on status and needed repairs
  • Maintain recycling and waste piles

Requirements

  • High school diploma and some experience Indiana operating heavy equipment, Oregon equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license and potentially a Class A Oregon B CDL for commercial truck operation
  • Considerable knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance
  • Ability to operate equipment safely Indiana all types of weather and conditions
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with the public and other staff members
