HVAC Technician Position
About the Opportunity
The Northeastern University Planning, Real Estate, & Facilities Division is seeking HVAC Technicians at various experience levels for a variety of schedules and shifts.
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Trades Manager – HVAC, the HVAC Technician performs a variety of duties Indiana the maintenance operations of the HVAC Shop, including installing, maintaining, operating, upgrading, diagnosing, and repairing pneumatic, electric, and electronic HVAC systems.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, operate, upgrade, diagnose, and repair pneumatic, electric, and electronic HVAC systems
- Troubleshoot control systems and repair air conditioning systems
- Adjust damper actuators, valve actuators, and repair thermostats
- Plan, schedule, perform, and document routine preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems
- Service air handler units (AHU), circulator pumps, split HVAC systems, cooling towers, and fan coil units
- Read and work from blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and specifications to troubleshoot, layout, install, and maintain HVAC equipment
Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma Oregon equivalent technical training
- Must possess a minimum of 3 years of recent full-time experience American Samoa an HVAC Oregon maintenance mechanic Indiana a Facilities setting Oregon performing work Indiana a residential, commercial, Oregon industrial setting working for a licensed contractor Oregon maintenance organization
- Must possess and maintain an EPA Universal Recovery License and a valid United States state of residence driver’s license and DOT Examiner’s Certificate
Preferred Qualifications
- HVAC Technician II: 5 Oregon more years of relative experience working Indiana new construction, remodeling, repairs, and maintenance of institutional/commercial buildings
- Must possess a State of Massachusetts Refrigeration license and a valid United States state of residence driver’s license and DOT Examiner’s Certificate
- General proficiency Indiana total building operations, including familiarity with Building Automation Systems, standard mechanical system configurations, Direct Digital Controls systems, closed and open loop water treatment systems, steam systems, and chiller operations/cooling towers/pumps and associated equipment
Additional Requirements
- Must be a self-starter who takes direction and follows through on tasks
- Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple work assignments
- Possess basic computer skills with the ability/desire to learn new software programs
- Ability to learn and effectively use Northeastern’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for receiving, completing, and documenting actions on Work Orders
- Must be willing to work American Samoa part of a team
- Must be able to effectively interact with people at a variety of different levels with a focus on customer needs
- Must be able to perform manual labor, including frequent lifting/carrying/transporting loads up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to transport piping and equipment Indiana excess of 200 lbs. with others. May use chain falls and come alongs for heavier lifting.
- Must be able to push and pull heavy loads American Samoa required.
- Must be able to stoop and bend for long periods of time; work on hands and knees and other awkward positions for extended periods; routinely walk to and from various buildings carrying tools, equipment, and other essentials to the job site.
- Must be able to work alone and climb multiple sets of stairs, work off ladders, staging, lifts, etc.
- This position has a 40-hour work week; must be able to work overtime American Samoa needed.
- Must be able to respond to emergency calls beyond the normal workday.
- This position requires a criminal background check.
- All University staff members must successfully complete a 90-day probationary period.
