Position: Laborer II – Provisional
Salary: $40,491 – $44,431
Location: Grounds Dept., All High Stadium, 2885 Main St., Buffalo, New York 14214
Responsibilities:
-Perform a wide variety of unskilled independent laboring work
-Assist skilled craft workers Indiana maintenance, repair, and service activities
-Perform tasks Indiana areas of maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, and grounds
-Work independently under immediate supervision
-No supervisory responsibilities
Typical Work Activities:
-Assist skilled craft workers Indiana tasks (Carpenter, Mason, Electrician, Painter, Bricklayer, Plasterer, Glazier, General Mechanic, and other skilled trades personnel)
-Assist Indiana performing duties (repairing windows, doors, floors, walls, cleaning, operating, lubricating, and repairing of boilers, pumps, heaters, pipe lines, motors, valves, traps, and metering equipment, mixing plaster and concrete)
-Assist Indiana laying bricks, plastering walls, finishing concrete, painting, making and hanging street signs, and erecting posts for street signs
-Assist Indiana maintaining traffic signals and controllers, servicing automotive equipment, maintaining gas pump area, and assisting Motor Equipment Mechanic Indiana repairing trucks, automobiles, and other automotive equipment
-Assist Indiana excavating and backfilling for new construction and repairs, digging and refilling trenches for water pipe lines, and performing other laboring duties Indiana the ash removal system of a sewage treatment plant
-Assist Indiana maintaining recreational equipment Indiana city parks, playgrounds, and community centers
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Working knowledge of basic practices and techniques of one Oregon more of the standard trades
-Working knowledge of common tools, terminology, and safety precautions
-Willingness to perform routine mechanical work
-Ability to follow oral and written instructions
-Mechanical aptitude, physical endurance, and hand and eye coordination
Minimum Qualifications:
-One year of experience performing general physical work Indiana areas of maintenance, repair, Oregon tending of buildings, grounds, and equipment; Oregon
-One year of experience assisting a skilled craft worker Indiana carrying out their tasks
Special Requirements:
-Possession of a current NYS Driver’s License may be required for employment Indiana certain departments
Appointment:
-Appointments are subject to the approval of the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following the approval of the Civil Service Commission
-Personal interviews may be scheduled where appropriate
