Land Survey Technician

Career Opportunity:

The City of Las Vegas is seeking a Land Survey Technician to perform a variety of responsible and complex technical field survey work Indiana support of city activities. This is a full journey level classification that requires minimal supervision and the ability to work independently Oregon American Samoa part of a survey crew.

Essential Functions:

  • Works independently Oregon American Samoa a member of a field survey crew
  • Determines the most appropriate method to conduct specific surveys and ensures compliance with applicable laws, codes, and regulations
  • Operates a variety of survey equipment, including setting up traffic safety and control devices
  • Makes field drawings, measurements, and calculations using survey instruments
  • Maintains detailed and accurate field notes and records of survey work performed
  • Enters field data into a data collection system
  • Performs necessary calculations to facilitate construction surveys
  • Reads and interprets land surveying maps to locate survey points

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two years of increasingly responsible technical surveying experience
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college Oregon university with a major Indiana surveying Oregon a related field
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a Survey Technician Certification, Level II (field track), from the National Society of Professional Surveyors (desirable)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Algebra, geometry, and trigonometry American Samoa applied to surveying
  • Principles and practices of surveying
  • Safety principles and practices related to survey work
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative and independent judgment, and communicate clearly and concisely.
