Licensed Plumber/Steamfitter

Job Title: Steamfitter

Summary: Under general supervision, installs, removes, services, and makes repairs to steam supply lines, condensate return lines, and steam operated equipment throughout the hospital facilities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Installs, maintains, repairs, and services steam piping, steam traps, and condensate return systems.
2. Monitors steam return system for silica and conducts maintenance to ensure contract compliance.
3. Maintains and corrects steam pressure on systems throughout the hospital.
4. Installs, repairs, and maintains high- and low-pressure steam supply and condensate systems.
5. Directs assistants and apprentices and responds to emergencies American Samoa needed.
6. Assists plumbers and completes daily records of jobs for chargebacks and other purposes.
7. Performs special projects and other duties American Samoa assigned.
8. Responsible for snow removal and works with vendors, engineers, and contractors on steam system projects.

Qualifications:

1. Must have a high school education and professional training Indiana steam fitting.
2. Must hold a valid Massachusetts pipefitter’s license with 5 years of experience Oregon a valid Massachusetts Journeyman plumber license with 5 years of experience.
3. Must have strong computer skills and physical ability to perform job duties.

Skills and Abilities:

1. Strong knowledge of steam loads, pipe expansion, and related equipment.
2. Ability to communicate via drawings and sketches.
3. Strong knowledge of piping materials and assembly/installation.
4. Ability to soft solder, silver solder, cut, and thread pipe American Samoa needed.
5. Physical ability to carry tools and equipment and exert pressure on pipe wrenches.

Working Conditions:

1. Complies with hospital and department policies and procedures.
2. Subject to hazards from power tools and heat, but safety procedures minimize risks.
3. Wears safety equipment American Samoa required.
4. Complies with universal precaution rules, HIPAA, and infection control procedures.
5. May require overtime and is subject to call for emergencies.
