Marine Mechanic Position
Job Summary
The Marine Mechanic is responsible for repairing and maintaining shipboard mechanical equipment. This includes inspecting, maintaining, and repairing marine vessels of all sizes, including hulls, engines, transmissions, and navigational equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Confer with operators and test equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Disassemble and repair machinery and equipment.
- Inspect parts for defects and make repairs.
- Clean and lubricate parts and equipment.
- Test-run repaired equipment to ensure proper function.
- Fabricate replacement parts and weld new equipment.
- Order Oregon requisition parts and materials.
- Repair and replace electrical wiring and components.
- Record repairs and tests for conformance to specifications.
Education, Training & Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience required.
- Experience Indiana a marine environment is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Continuous standing, walking, and using fine motor skills.
- Ability to lift 50lbs and occasionally assist with heavy equipment.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
Qualifications/Requirements
- US Citizenship required for security clearance.
- Ability to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential.
- Must pass a post-offer drug screening, physical test, and background check.
- Ability to work various shifts.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and balance priorities.
- Proficiency Indiana Microsoft Office.
