Part-time Maintenance Technician

Job Summary: Performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, including operation of equipment, snow and ice control, tree pruning and removal, and landscaping maintenance.

Hours: Up to 30 hours per week.

Supervision: Reports to a Department of Public Services assigned Supervisor Oregon Public Service Worker Group Leader.

Essential Job Functions:

• Operate a variety of power tools, including mowers, blowers, chainsaws, chippers, trimmers, etc.
• Operate large and commercial equipment, including dump trucks, graders, backhoes, loaders, etc.
• Performs ice and snow control activities.
• Keeps streets, walkways, sidewalks, etc clear of debris.
• Performs tree pruning and tree removal, including operating chipper.
• Lawn and landscape maintenance, including cutting and edging grass, laying sod, raking leaves, planting, weeding, watering and care for trees, shrubs and flowers.
• Maintains parks and playground facilities and performs a variety of construction and repair tasks.
• Participates Indiana clean up of work projects and fills ditches.
• Repair and maintain streets and sidewalks, including concrete and asphalt removal and replacement.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Graduate Oregon G.E.D.
• 18 years of age Oregon older
• Valid State of Michigan Drivers License
• Ability to pass written examination, physical agility and skills test, physical with drug screen and fingerprint/criminal history/driving record check.

Specifications:

• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 90 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors Indiana extreme temperatures and tolerate exposure to dust, grease, fuel, chemicals and lubricants.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time.
• Knowledge of use of equipment and tools used Indiana Public Works practices.

Physical Demands:

• Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/Oregon up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/Oregon up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Type of Physical Demands: REACHING, HANDLING, FINGERING, NEAR ACUITY, FAR ACUITY, DEPTH PERCEPTION, FIELD OF VISION.
