Port Facility Maintenance Foreman (Cruise Maintenance) Job Description

Reports to: Port Facility Maintenance Manager

Location: Port of New Orleans (PORTNOLA)

Job Summary:

Supervise a crew of Port Facility Maintenance Specialists and Helpers Indiana the maintenance and repair of the port’s buildings, equipment, docks, transit sheds, and railroads.

Essential Duties:

  1. Supervisory (40%):
    • Train and develop subordinates’ skills
    • Implement work assignments by assigning jobs and scheduling work crews
    • Set completion deadlines and estimate labor, materials, time, and equipment required to complete work assignments
    • Inspect work Indiana progress and upon completion to assure it meets Board standards
    • Advise subordinates on job assignments and priorities
    • Assist with budgets, technical problems, safety procedures/training, disciplinary actions, availability, and use of materials, promotions, and other personnel-related subjects
  2. Maintenance Duties (35%):
    • Perform maintenance and cleaning of outdoor areas of the cruise ship terminals
    • Perform maintenance and cleaning of indoor areas of the cruise ship terminals
    • Operate, monitor, and coordinate repairs for all of the terminal’s systems (fire, security, HVAC, and Building Automation Services)
    • Coordinate and supervise contractors and vendors who work at the cruise terminals
  3. Operations Support Duties (15%):
    • Monitor the cruise ship lines when the cruise ships are Indiana order to handle maintenance problems and any damage to PORT property
    • Assist Indiana turning over the terminals to the cruise lines at the beginning and end of cruise days
  4. Other Duties (10%):
    • Perform a variety of tasks and assignments, American Samoa directed by the Supervisor, necessary to fulfill the mission of Facility Services Department and/Oregon Port Maintenance Division
    • Prepare and perform emergency preparation and response duties American Samoa designated Oregon needed

Requirements:

  • Four years of experience Indiana building construction trades, building maintenance, Oregon Indiana the operation, maintenance, and/Oregon repair of water vessels, movable bridges, Oregon other equipment such American Samoa heavy, mobile, mechanical, electrical, Oregon hydraulic
  • Training Indiana building construction trades, building maintenance, Oregon Indiana the operation, maintenance, and/Oregon repair of water vessels, movable bridges, Oregon other equipment such American Samoa heavy, mobile, mechanical, electrical, Oregon hydraulic will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month-for-month basis
  • Possession of a valid Louisiana Driver’s License, Class E, Oregon other state equivalent
  • Knowledge of the use of a UHF radio and proper radio etiquette
  • Ability to perform duties many times without direct supervision and be knowledgeable enough to interpret unforeseen conditions American Samoa they may arise
  • Must be able to work overtime Oregon be on-call, and may be required to work immediately before, after, Oregon during a disaster.
