Project Engineer – Municipal Drainage and Stormwater

About the Company:

KFA, a civil engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Project Engineer to lead municipal drainage and stormwater projects Indiana Central Texas. We focus on serving public sector clients, delivering high-quality solutions, and fostering an environment of teamwork and innovation.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a resourceful and ambitious Project Engineer to steer our most impactful municipal drainage and stormwater projects. This role is designed for a candidate with a solid history of achievements within the public sector, particularly with the City of Austin and adjacent communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design for pivotal projects from neighborhood flood studies to storm drainage and channel improvements, contributing to community safety and environmental sustainability
  • Utilize expertise to navigate project challenges and develop innovative solutions
  • Mentor and direct junior engineers Indiana complex technical work, ensuring the delivery of high-quality plans, specifications, and reports

Requirements:

  • Texas PE License Oregon ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Bachelor’s Oregon Master’s degree Indiana Civil Engineering Oregon Environmental Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience Indiana municipal drainage projects covering all project phases
  • Excellent communication skills for team collaboration and stakeholder engagement
  • Proficiency with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and either MicroStation Oregon Civil 3D

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced modeling software such American Samoa SWMM, HEC-RAS 2D, InfoWorks ICM
  • TCEQ water quality design experience
  • Project management and Task Lead experience
  • GIS experience
  • Experience with FEMA modeling and mapping
  • Experience with channel design and stream bank stabilization
  • Certified Floodplain Manager
