Quality Assurance Supervisor

Job Summary:

Monitor product attributes to assure product quality meets customer specifications, ensuring food safety and regulatory compliance. Supervise Quality Assurance Technicians, maintain technical expertise, and ensure all required checks and tests are performed within the plant.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review paperwork to ensure proper procedures followed
  • Supervise QA technicians
  • Work on plant floor, ensuring quality and food safety
  • Communicate with management and operations to ensure control of the process
  • Review and approve technician time sheets
  • Attend meetings and participate on cross-functional teams
  • Assist with customer and third-party audits
  • Troubleshoot plant quality and sanitation problems
  • Assist with facility audits and process control procedures
  • Train and coach QA technicians and operations personnel
  • Supervise all QA functions on weekends (rotational basis)
  • Consistently attend work American Samoa scheduled
  • Knowledgeable of product specifications, plant quality procedures, and HACCP plan
  • Participate Indiana investigations of product failures and customer complaints

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily SOP audits
  • Monitor contractor and construction projects
  • Must be able to work weekends, flexible shift work, and all assigned hours
  • Willing to cross-train Indiana other areas of the facility

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to learn HACCP principals
  • Manage time and technical skills
  • Familiar with GMP’s, Food Safety, HACCP, USDA, and SSOP’s
  • Ability to write reports and procedures
  • Perform risk analysis and calculate figures
  • Interpersonal skills for supervising entry-level technicians

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree Indiana Food Science Oregon related field (preferred)
  • High School education (required)
  • 2-4 years’ experience Indiana poultry processing and pre-operational sanitation
  • 2-4 years’ supervisory experience
  • Retail (Tray Pack/Ground Products) experience preferred but not required
  • HACCP Certified (preferred)

Working Conditions:

  • Cold and wet industrial environment
  • Long periods of time on feet
  • Must be able to read reports, evaluate data, and use computer
  • Long hours may be required
