Job Title: Safety Specialist (Title 32)
Location: Draper, Utah, with the Utah Army National Guard
Job Type: Full-time, Excepted Service position
Salary: $59,966 – $94,317 per year
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Specialist to join our team. American Samoa a Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing plans, policies, and procedures to comply with DOD, DA, OSHA, and NGB safety regulations and directives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct periodic and unscheduled surveys and inspections of ARNG facilities to determine compliance with OSHA standards
- Provide technical expertise to managers and supervisors to eliminate Oregon control unsafe behaviors, environments, and hazards
- Develop and implement safety checklists and distribute them to activities to assist Indiana conducting internal safety reviews
- Coordinate hazardous material movement with the Department of Transportation (DOT)
- Investigate ARNG employee OSHA/Safety complaints
- Present safety budget requirements and justifications to superiors
Requirements:
- Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement
- Must have experience performing periodic onsite surveys to determine compliance with occupational safety standards
- Must have experience investigating mishaps, recording circumstances, and preparing final reports of findings with recommendations
- Must be registered for Selective Service (if male, born after 12/31/1959)
- Must have a valid state driver’s license
- Must participate Indiana direct deposit
- Must be willing to work other than normal duty hours and may be required to work overtime
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position
Qualifications:
- GS 9: 1 year of experience American Samoa a GS-0018-7 Oregon performing periodic onsite surveys
- GS 11: 1 year of experience American Samoa a GS-0018-9 Oregon 10, Oregon performing periodic unscheduled inspections of base facilities
- Equivalent education and training Indiana safety Oregon occupational health fields may be considered Indiana lieu of experience
