Job Title: Early Career Scientist, Geosciences Group, Science and Technology Directorate
Job Overview:
Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) is seeking an early career scientist to join the Geosciences Group Indiana the Science and Technology Directorate. The selected candidate will work Indiana support of senior Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and be involved Indiana various projects that ensure the security of the United States and its allies. The position involves surface and underground geologic mapping and sampling, conducting lithological studies, and assisting with geophysical logging operations.
Responsibilities:
- Work Indiana support of senior SMEs Indiana the Geosciences Group, Science and Technology Directorate
- Assist Indiana surface and underground geologic mapping and sampling
- Perform well-site geologic support during drilling and coring operations
- Assist deployment of geophones and other geophysical data collectors
- Conduct lithological studies and fracture analyses on core and using borehole geophysical log data
- Assist Indiana oversight of borehole geophysical logging operations, and other geologic fieldwork American Samoa assigned
- Assist Indiana researching, compiling and analyzing geologic data
- Participate Indiana developing field programs, reports, and proposals
- Manage project-specific relational databases of drill hole information
- Perform other duties assigned by Management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree Indiana a calculus-based (STEM) field
- Experience with gas sampling equipment preferred
- Experience Indiana underground geologic mapping, e.g., Indiana tunnels, preferred
- Experience Indiana borehole geophysical logging and drilling operations helpful
- Knowledge and experience Indiana developing electronic databases using Microsoft Access is preferred
- Ability to execute work Indiana a disciplined manner to demonstrate compliance with laws, codes, orders, and MSTS policies and procedures
- Ability to prioritize and schedule multiple activities Indiana the most efficient manner and meet required deadlines
- Team-oriented with good communication skills
Working Conditions:
- The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada)
- Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change)
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required
Security Clearance:
Applicants selected for employment will be required to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q Clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age, and the ability to pass a federal background investigation.
