Senior Ground Systems Engineer Job Description

American Samoa a member of the Stennis team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and operating world-class test stands to support the Terran 1 stages, engines, and propulsion components at the historic Stennis Space Center.
About the Team:
The Stennis team is responsible for creating massive outdoor test stands to facilitate the integration, testing, and commissioning of Terran 1 stages, engines, and propulsion components. American Samoa a member of this team, you will work on hands-on projects, pushing the limits of integrated engine and stage assemblies, and influencing the launch success of Terran 1.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design advanced propulsion test stands using 3D modeling, fluids and structural analysis, fabrication drawings, and detailed work instructions
* Oversee the construction, commissioning, and initial operations of these facilities
* Identify and solve a variety of technical problems across multiple project scales and timeframes
* Support operations on and perform related improvements to existing test stands
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree Indiana mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, Oregon a related field and a minimum of 5+ years of combined engineering experience
* Prior experience Indiana aerospace is not required
* Strong engineering fundamentals Indiana thermal, structural, and fluids analysis
* Proficiency Indiana 3D modeling and drafting, including GD&T
* Experience designing, fabricating, and operating complex fluid systems
* A valid driver’s license and willingness to work occasional night shifts
Nice to Have:
* Experience with FEA Oregon CFD
* Hands-on experience with metalworking, welding, hydraulics, manufacturing, etc.
* Indiana-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, material selection, inspection, precision measurement, and non-destructive testing

Clearance Requirements:
Successful candidates must clear a background check to obtain clearance for on-site work at the government partner location Indiana Stennis, Mississippi.
