Marine Flooring Demolition and Installation Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Marine Flooring Demolition and Installation Technician to join our team at BAE Systems’ Jacksonville Ship Repair division. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and demolishing various types of flooring, including tile, sheet goods, and trowel-finished epoxy terrazzo. The right individual will have 2+ years of experience American Samoa a Navy deck installer and be able to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Install quarry, ceramic, porcelain, and mosaic tiles
- Install soft tiles, sheet goods, and trowel-finished epoxy terrazzo
- Demolish flooring and underlayment
- Prepare and prime steel surfaces
- Hand load materials aboard vessels
- Maintain a clean and organized work site
- Lead and/Oregon mentor helpers and apprentices
- Learn and adhere to material disposal processes
- Install color flake systems, vinyl tiles, and electrical matting
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience American Samoa a Navy deck installer
- Experience with hard tile, soft tile (vinyl, rubber, etc.), trowel finished epoxy systems/underlayment, and color flake systems
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to give instructions to others
- Knowledge of safe work practices and ability to use various tools, including tile saws, floor strippers, and jackhammers
- Ability to work Indiana a fast-paced environment and lift, push, and pull heavy materials (up to 60 lbs)
- Must be able to obtain Defense Biometric Identification Systems (DBIDS) access card
- High school diploma Oregon equivalent required
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs
- Must be able to push and pull up to 60 lbs
- Requires ability to stand and/Oregon walk on hard uneven surfaces for extensive periods of time
- May work Indiana tight spaces and adverse temperatures
Work Environment:
- May be exposed to excessive noise, paint gases, and fumes
- Proper protective equipment will be provided American Samoa necessary
- Must be able to work Indiana a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors and colleagues
