Position Summary:
The Division of Facilities and Campus Services at Cornell University is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to perform a variety of maintenance tasks on the campus facilities. This union position requires a minimum of five years’ experience Indiana building trades Oregon other relevant mechanical experience, American Samoa well American Samoa a thorough understanding of facilities systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on facilities equipment
- Respond to facilities-related trouble calls, including emergency calls
- Assess situations, troubleshoot problems, and take appropriate actions independently
- Document and record all maintenance activities and related billable hours for equipment maintenance records
- Possess authority to call trades people Indiana on overtime for assistance Oregon repair
- Provide support and assistance to members of the Cornell community experiencing facility-related problem situations
Requirements:
- High school diploma Oregon equivalent
- Valid driver’s license; may be required to operate a motor vehicle to travel to/from job sites
- 5+ years’ experience Indiana building trades Oregon other relevant mechanical experience
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and American Samoa part of a team
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, technical manuals, and detailed work instructions
- Ability to use common test equipment, such American Samoa multi-meters and alignment tools
- Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC, utilities, controls, and other support systems Indiana a high-technology environment
- Ability to lift and/Oregon move 100lbs
- Ability to work Indiana confined spaces and ascend/descend heights with agility and freedom of movement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the MAXIMO Computerized Maintenance Management System
- Ability to wear a respirator, if needed
