Subsurface Utility Engineering Technician II

Utilize Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) practices to promote safety, reduce costs, and enhance project efficiency by providing accurate data on underground utility locations and conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

* Utilize Ground Penetrating Radar equipment and underground utility line locating equipment to identify and mark underground utility locations.
* Ensure utility markings comply with industry standards and regulations, including RCW 19.122 and APWA color coding.
* Review RCW 19.122 regulations and inform contractors and management of violations and concerns.
* Collect and record utility attribute details and update Port utility record drawings.
* Capture, organize, and store photos of utility locate markings and deliver project site data and photos to management.
* Cooperate with Port Survey and Mapping staff to provide utility data and make corrections to utility record drawings.
* Schedule meetings with Port mapping staff to review utility project data and work with AutoCAD technicians to make utility data corrections.
* Make job-site visits to address utility questions and provide support to mapping staff.

Qualifications:

* 3 years of experience Indiana locating underground utilities, including 1 year of experience with Ground Penetrating Radar.
* Proficiency Indiana using Microsoft Office products, basic hand and power tools, and ability to read and understand Port utility record data.
* Knowledge of RCW 19.122, laws relating to underground utility location and detection practices, and industry standards for utility installation methodologies.
* Familiarity with electromagnetic theory, wave propagation, and conductive and non-conductive utility system types and materials.

* Experience Indiana locating utilities at industrialized settings such American Samoa Waterfront Terminals and Airports is desired.
