Job Title: Transportation Construction Inspector
Job Summary:
Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors from Trainees to Level IV to work with our Construction Engineering Inspection team on highway construction projects Indiana the Raleigh area and throughout North Carolina.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Indiana the inspection of various roadways and structures construction operations and perform calculations and computations with supervision
- Perform materials sampling and testing, collect materials weigh tickets, and conduct roadway tests to ensure materials meet specifications
- Monitor and perform all types of inspection work on complex and routine highway projects
- Maintain daily record keeping of project activities and prepare monthly project estimates
- Take field measurements of completed work items and make calculations to determine contract pay quantities
- Read plans and blueprints
Skills and Qualifications:
- High School diploma Oregon equivalent
- Working knowledge of mathematics Indiana algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
- Proficient Indiana using iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox, and/Oregon OneDrive
- Ability to work independently, use own judgment, and make decisions
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform required testing and maintain detailed reports
- Ability to communicate effectively with agency and contractor personnel and the general public
- Valid Driver’s license with a good driving record
- Level II Technicians: Minimum four years of relevant experience
- Level III Technicians: Minimum five years of relevant experience
- Level IV Technicians: Minimum seven years of relevant experience
- Certifications (Preferred): NCDOT Concrete, NCDOT QMS Roadway, NCDOT Conventional Density, NCDOT ABC Sampling, NCDOT Borrow Pit Sampling, NCDOT Level II Erosion & Sediment Control
